A freshly formed group of artists from Harlesden has opened a temporary exhibition at the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn High Road – to launch a new online gallery.
“I recruited some talented artists from Harlesden and elsewhere, who all wish to promote the NW10 zone,” said Gabriel Parfitt, founder of the online gallery and co-creator of the Trycycle show. “Our aim is to exhibit all over London and obtain funding for a cultural space that our area so badly needs and deserves.”
After a consultation with residents, Mr Parfitt, who is a sculptor and painter actively involved in the London arts scene, decided to form this group in partnership with the Harlesden Town Team – the local committee that works on regeneration plans.
“Gabriel contacted me a few months ago, after he had seen my paintings at Patrick´s Harvist Gallery last July,” said Ines Szamrey, one of the group members.
Showcasing the creations of every artist with links to each personal homepage, the website is “very straightforward and seems to work fine,” commented Ines. She also added: “I find a lot of merit in the effort Gabriel is doing to promote new creativity.”
After a big crowd at the preview, the exhibition is now going well and all the artists are pleased with the venue, although they’re still waiting for the feedback of the public.
