FINDING A ROOM IN LONDON

Hundreds of students and young professionals live the same situation: some are looking for a place to move in, some have just found it after a desperate and long search, and wish their renting contract would be renewed. I’ve been looking for a room for two months, and saw a lot of grotesque flats before I’ve found a suitable one.

The first way to start a research is through the Internet: a lot of websites host adverts of any kind, including flatshares. Easyroommate, Gumtree, Intolondon, Loot, Spareroomare the most popular.

A few words to introduce yourself, some options to define the search by area, kind of room, price range and preferences about housemates, smokers and pets. Apparently, the more specific the advert is written, the better the search will be.

JAPAN RUNS 54-HOURS ROBOT MARATHON

Five robots walking along the red and blue lines of a track on an immaculate floor, but no one waving at them: it couldn’t be a kids playground. In fact, it was the first Robot marathon, held last Thursday in west Japan.

Five miniature robots, each less than 50cm tall, have been “running” for more than 50 hours –the winner clocked 54 hours, 57 minutes, 50.26 seconds – to complete a 26 miles marathon. Instead of a city route, the electrical athletes have competed on a 100-metre track in the Osaka’s Asia-Pacific trade centre. It took them 422 laps to finish the race: irrelevant details, as they are battery charged and can’t feel tired, neither bored.

Organized by the Japanese robot maker Vstone to prove the machine’s durability and manoeuvrability, the “Robo Mara Full” was transmitted on streaming from a camera installed in the head of a racer. Nice idea, but the advertising breaks were the most exciting parts of all the eleven shots uploaded by the company.

Hello world!

Students from all the countries, here’s my website. I’m a journalist student, and I’m living abroad, so I decided to write a blog for people like me, who are living “so far” from home because of their studies and who wouldn’t mind going even further… It’s amazing how many things you see and you do when you move around: why would we have to comfortably stay  in our hometown or in our region? I have no idea.

Anyway, this blog is aimed to publish news from different countries and stories about students. But as we are eclectic people with a lot of interests, the website will have also other sections for culture, gigs, music, movies, travels, jobs and, why not, food.

I hope you like it and, please, give me feedback!
